Job Summary:

We are seeking an
Assistant Scientist 1 for our Discovery Sciences team based in Tranent.


The Department of Discovery Sciences provides support to the pharmaceutical, veterinary pharmaceutical and chemical/agrochemical industries by evaluating the Pharmacokinetic (PK) and Pharmacodynamics (PD) of new chemical and biological entities in vivo in a variety of small and large animal species.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide assistance with study setup, sample collection, data and report compilation and interarea collaboration
  • Conduct laboratory work in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures
  • Undertake routine tasks of laboratory and equipment maintenance as may be delegated
  • Ensuring that a safe working environment is maintained by observing all safety procedures and working methods and by making proper use of protective clothing and equipment

Applicants should have:


  • A good understanding of the drug discovery/development process
  • Some laboratory experience in the conduct of in vivo metabolism studies would be advantageous however, full training will be provided
  • Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively
  • Highly motivated individual, able to flourish in a fast pace environment
  • Good problem solving skills and be able to work to tight deadlines and record data accurately
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • A strong commitment to producing quality data
Salary for this position is £24,876.69.
