Job description

Role:
ShopKeeper


Status:
Permanent, Full time


Salary:
£26,000 per annum

Hours of work: 37.5 hours


Location :
Sunderland SR4 6ND


As a shopkeeper You are required to serve clients at a counter and carry out other duties such as taking customer payments, giving change, helping customers, and wrapping purchases.

Most of the time shopkeepers answer customer's enquiries, give advice about products, and listen to customers' needs and requests, which can indicate new sales opportunities.

This is a hands-on role.

Shopkeepers are involved in every aspect of the business, from ordering stock and merchandising, through to serving customers and balancing the books.

It is important to understand how to run a business and handle profit and loss accounts, book-keeping and VAT.


Responsibilities:

Planning the range of products and setting profit margins.

Ordering stock from wholesalers, manufacturers, sales representatives, agents and importers.

Managing staff, including recruiting, training and staff rota's.

Monitoring stock levels and product performance.

Setting sales targets.

Dealing with customers and providing a high level of customer service.

Merchandising stock and implementing local marketing activity.

Introducing standards for security, and ensuring that trading standards and health and safety regulations are met.

Keeping abreast of changes to the industry and market competition.

Additional hours may be required, particularly in the run-up to Christmas and other peak trading periods, and for stocktaking.

Retail outlets vary in size, but are generally clean and pleasant environments to work in. At certain times during the day, they can be extremely busy. A driving licence may be useful.

Shopkeepers are expected to have a smart appearance and required to wear a uniform. The work also involves physical lifting and carrying. There may be long periods of standing.


EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Any sales and customer service experience is useful.

Previous work experience in Running or working for a small, medium or large business, as an employee or as a manager.

Expertise Knowledge in a key area of business, such as senior management, marketing or finance.

From £26,000.00 per year

All customers are required to wear a mask and surfaces are sanitised regularly.

  • Bachelor's (preferred)

Experience:


  • Sales: 1 year (required)
  • Retail sales: 1 year (preferred)
