E3G is seeking a highly motivated and talented Senior Communications Officer to join the team and help shape the global narrative on climate change.


As a Senior Communications Officer you will play a crucial role in implementing strategic communication strategies that advance our mission to influence climate policy decisions at national and international levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communication Strategy Development: Collaborate with staff and researchers across the organisation to develop comprehensive communication strategies that effectively communicate E3G's research findings, policy recommendations, and thought leadership in the climate and sustainability sector.
  • Messaging and Storytelling: Craft compelling and impactful messages, stories, and narratives that resonate with various audiences, including policymakers, media outlets, civil society organizations, and the general public. Ensure that E3G's communication materials are clear, concise, and accessible to diverse stakeholders.
  • Media Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, media outlets, and influencers to promote E3G's work and secure media coverage. Proactively identify opportunities to pitch stories, arrange interviews, and secure speaking engagements for E3G's experts and spokespersons.
  • Content Creation: Produce highquality content, including press releases, opeds, blog posts, social media updates, and multimedia materials (such as videos, infographics, and podcasts). Collaborate with researchers to translate complex climate and sustainability concepts into accessible and engaging content for different platforms.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with policymakers, government officials, civil society organizations, and other key stakeholders to promote E3G's research and policy recommendations. Represent E3G at conferences, workshops, and relevant events to establish relationships and enhance the organization's profile.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Track and analyse the impact of E3G's communications efforts, including media coverage, social media metrics, website analytics, and stakeholder feedback. Provide regular reports to senior staff on the effectiveness of communication strategies and identify areas for improvement.
Experience and Skills

  • Minimum of four years of experience in communications, preferably in the climate sector.
  • Strong understanding of climate change issues, and the policy landscape.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and engaging manner.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing communication strategies and campaigns.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse range of stakeholders, including policymakers, researchers, journalists, and civil society organizations.
  • Experience in media relations, including pitching stories, organizing press events, and securing media coverage.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fastpaced environment.
Further Details

This role is based in UK.

E3G operates a flexible working environment, with staff expected to come to the office at least twice a week on average.

A remuneration package competitive with the non-profit sector will be offered up to £40K depending on experience.

Benefits include 25 days of annual leave plus additional leave between Christmas and new year; travel and hospitalisation insurance; cycling to work scheme.
