Learning and Development Manager - Law - City - £60,000

Wise May are looking for a Learning and Development Coordinator to join this global Law business based in the heart of the City.

Joining the HR Team, to be the main point of contact in the coordination and support of the Learning and Development initiatives currently being rolled out in London.


The Learning and Development Manager will support the administration, organisation, coordination and liaison involved with all core development programmes across the London office.

The role will also be involved in cross-departmental and firm-wide liaisonon training administration matters and will oversee some firm-wide regulatory and administrative activities.


Duties include:


  • Scheduling training sessions and liaising with external training suppliers
  • Event facilitation, working with various groups within the business
  • Manage and oversee development of content / curriculum and delivery of mandatory training
  • Source suitable training providers, venues and external courses, conferences and seminars
  • Regular evaluation and offering of online training i.e. Socrates and MBL
  • Work with the various Business Professional teams to ensure all new joiner induction training is appropriate, delivered accurately and reviewed periodically.
  • Oversee the content / design of the L&D pages on the intranet
  • Assisting HR Manager with talent management programmes
  • Working with the HR Manager during the Appraisal process to develop individual training plans
  • Lead on the Direction of Travel project on all areas of Learning and Development
  • Update and maintain the Competency Framework, L&D policies and literature
  • Lead the L&D committee on initiatives and plans for the office
  • Liaise with the Graduate Recruitment and Trainee Committee
  • Liaise with the Senior Associate Committee on L&D, career development and route to Partnership
  • Maintaining training sessions and CPD records
  • Working with the HR Manager to prepare the annual L&D budget
  • Management and lead US development programmes/initiatives
  • Build a L&D network within both US and UK City Law Firms
  • Produce quarterly office updates on upcoming learning and development events


Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with people at all levels, including partners and clients, is a must.

You will have sound judgement, sharp business acumen, the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with theappropriate discretion, and the ability to multi task.
