There is an excellent opportunity to join SSL sterile services as a supervisor. Training and Development are offered to get you on to a defined pathway.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week - AFC Band: Band - Location: Salisbury District Hospital


Job Purpose:


  • To Supervise a team of Sterile Service and Endoscopy personnel on a daytoday basis, ensuring that Sterile Service and endoscopy provision complies with current legislation.
  • To provide leadership through personal example, promoting sound departmental communication and fostering good interpersonal relationships.

Working Pattern:


Full-time, 37.

5 hrs per week on:


Tuesday at 7:00-15:00

Wednesday-Thursday at 13:00-21:00

Friday-Saturday at 7:00-15:00

What is involved?:


  • To oversee the preparation of instruments and equipment effectively and efficiently by the process of cleaning, inspection, assembly and packing within predefined quality standards.
  • To oversee and rigorously check, wash, layup and pack sets of theatre instruments and endoscopes to meet contract specifications within predefined quality standards.
  • To oversee that repairs and missing instruments or equipment are recorded and logged on the Tracking and Traceability computer system.
  • To proactively monitor, evaluate and ensure that operational activities fully comply with required Health and Safety procedures and guidelines.
  • To ensure that all designated staff are kept informed and trained on individual and team health and safety procedures in the workplace.
  • To participate as an integral member of the sterile processing and endoscopy team and actively contribute to suggestions of innovation, continuous improvement and best practices.
  • To monitor and ensure that all production processed by the designated team conforms to Synergy Health Sterilisation Services quality guidelines and ensure complete contamination control.
  • To actively assist and support the Production Manager in the planning and operational process.
  • Monitor absence levels, maintain accurate records and liaise with team members in the management of absence.
  • To coach, support, and guide team members in line with the principles of Performance Management, setting and reviewing goals, acting as a mentor to the team and identifying training and development needs.
  • To ensure effective communication between senior management and production teams.
  • To participate in the one call management rota service to maintain emergency services to customers.
  • To support and participate in 5S, Lean and Kaizen activities
  • To undertake any other duties or tasks as reasonably required.

Required Experience:


  • Educated to a good general standard with demonstrable verbal and numerical abilities.
  • Basic end user IT skills to operate track and traceability IT system.
