Role Description

  • Lead and assist with tutor time sessions focused around student mental
Main Duties and Responsibilities health

To play a vital role in: *Work collaboratively to lead small group lessons in either Literacy or
Numeracy, following a period of training*- Working with high needs students to support with mobility issues and personal
Support high needs students during "elective" sessions afterschool, care routines focused around an area of interest:
  • Helping students in your care to understand instruction through a variety of Focus on a specific area of SEN need and train to become a lead means practitioner
  • Encouraging selfconfidence and independence with the students in your care
  • Providing feedback to teachers and complete and maintain records as required Additional information
  • Supporting the delivery of 11 and small group interventions focussed around Astrea Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the the four SEN areas of identified need welfare of children and young people. We expect all employees to share this commitment
  • Supporting high needs students to engage with other students and to take part in school led activities (including on offsite visits)

  • Understanding the barriers students may face and support the needs of the necessary student to ensure that every child can reach their full potential All employees are required to demonstrate a continued commitment to

Person Specification Skills and Knowledge

Experience Essential

It would be desirable to have recent experience of
Ability to communicate well with staff and students working in a secondary school environment, however Knowledge of the curriculum primary school skills would be transferrable for this role

  • Ability to make observations and written reports on pupils during classroom sessions
Qualifications
Ability to deliver effective lessons

  • Confident in carrying out tasks and problem solving
  • GCSE Maths and English Grade C/4 or above education or equivalent
    Resilience:
  • Work well as part of a team, however, can also work
  • A good standard of literacy and numeracy independently to meet targets
  • NVQ level 2/3 for Teaching assistants desirabl
