Bioinformaticians- Operations and Customer Experience
Paramount are pleased to partner with a client that helps clients such as hospitals and pharmaceutical companies address big data challenges in genomic healthcare and precision medicine.
The company is looking for dedicated professionals looking to develop cutting edge technology with the potential to change people's lives.
Headquartered in Cambridge, with a presence in Spain, they are a pioneer in large-scale genomic data management. Its big data technology is designed to enable genomic medicine to rebuild the future of healthcare.
The company is looking for 2 Bioinformaticians, one to work more on the operational side of the business and one to focus more on the customer experience side.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Provide input into client proposals through assessment of technical needs and capabilities, implementation scheduling, and general technical consulting.
- Install, configure, optimise and manage complex fullstack bigdata cloudbased software systems.
- Identify, record, resolve and document issues related to company supplied systems.
- Work with engineering to test, fix bugs and implement features, tests and tools to support company supplied systems.
- Work with product management to represent the voice of the customer in prioritisation of product roadmaps.
- Monitor and respond to client issues to provide highly responsive customer service and maintain a high level of client satisfaction.
- Produce and review product technical and user documentation to ensure content accuracy and supportability of our systems.
- Produce, review and deliver training materials on best practices for implementation, configuration and use of our systems.
- Collaborate with engineering and commercial teams to improve professional service processes.
Key qualifications/skills:
- MS, PhD or equivalent experience in bioinformatics, computer science or related field.
- 3+ years of experience (ideally translational or biomedical research) in bioinformatics, computational biology, biostatistics, genomics or population genetics in either academic or industry settings.
- Programming; strong Python is required. Java, Jupyter notebooks, R, shell script, Spark desirable, as is experience of software development best practices including CI.
- Systems; strong Linux is required. Familiarity with modern DevOps is desirable as is experience with cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, Kubernetes, Docker) and databases (MongoDB, Solr, HBase)
- Bioinformatics; a good understanding of genomics and experience in NGS data handling is required. Experience of genomic analysis (e.g. GWAS, PCA), is desirable as familiarity with largescale genomics datasets, e.g. 1000 Genomes, ExAC/gnomAD, Ensembl, TCGA etc.
- Ability to write accurate and meaningful technical and user documentation.
- Ability to present to internal and external audiences at meetings, training workshops and conferences.
- Ability to work well with distributed commercial and engineering teams, familiarity with agile practices and project management processes (e.g. Jira, Confluence).
- Strong organisational and customer facing skills.
