Golf Retail Assistant


Role Purpose Deliver a high quality front of house and retail service to members and visitors, whilst also working as part of the Royal North Devon staff team to provide a financially profitable and successful shop. Support administration and logistics of a new online shop, and a central lesson/custom fitting booking system.
Key Accountabilities

Customer Service:


  • Provide the highest levels of customer service, as the key 'front of house' person for our prestigious golf club.

Administration - Oversee a number of administrative tasks : green fee bookings, administration of competitions, booking of coaching lessons and all other administrative tasks as required by the board or General Manager.


Product Knowledge- Work with the Retail Manager and other Retail Assistants to have a sound knowledge of shop products, able to advise members on golf equipment and apparel.


Communications - Field enquiries from members and visitors with friendly and professional manner. Support the team with content for member newsletters and social media. Regularly interact with the clubs membership.


Community Building - Work with the Board of Directors, volunteers, Coaching Professionals, and Retail manager to support the logistics of events for members, such as putting championships, and 'bring a non golfer' competitions.


Services - Ensure the provision of key member/visitor services maintaining cleanliness of hire trolleys, buggies, hire clubs, and management of the Club's storage areas and kit to support the club sections and teaching professionals. Cleaning and maintenance of the shop and indoor teaching/practice areas and range ball machine.


Innovation - Present new ideas to the Retail manager and board in line with Club strategy e.g. shop appearance, financial sustainability, member/visitor experience, development of golfers and recruitment and development of new golfers.


Other - Carry out any additional duties as reasonably requested by the Retail manager, General Manager, or board. Maintain a safe, clean and tidy work area. Adhere to all statutory requirements regarding fire, health, safety and hygiene. Attend any training sessions as requested and adhere to company policies.


Knowledge, skills & expertise Essential

  • Previous experience within golf, either as a member, volunteer, or staff member.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with experience in a customer facing role.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to provide a warm and friendly service to members and guests.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with a good level of IT literacy, including point of sale systems.
  • Diligent financial management capabilities, including the accurate recording of sales and bookings.
  • High integrity and genuine passion for being part of the clubs success
  • Organised, punctual, diligent, hard working, and able to undertake flexible working as required, including weekends
  • A willingness to learn, and able to both take instruction whilst also using initiative to improve the service to members and visitors.

Knowledge, skills & expertise Desirable

  • Reliable and demonstrable record of driving sales and performing well as part of a retail team.
  • Experience managing a golf retail outlet.
  • A currently active golfer with a competition handicap.
  • Previous experience within the golf retail industry, including up to date knowledge on golf equipment and apparel, including building relationships with leading golf brands.
  • A commitment to personal development, and a passion for forging a future career in golf as either a teaching or playing professional

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check will be required.


Job Types:
Part-time, Permanent

Part-time hours: 30 per week


Salary:
£8.97-£10.55 per hour
