STUDENT SUPPORT ADVISOR - 4 days a week term time (Hours to be negotiated) - Lowestoft

(Travel to other sites may be required at times, especially for training)
An opportunity has arisen at WS Training for a Student Support Advisor, within our Welfare Team.

You will be supporting learners in offering impartial and confidential advice and support on a range of issues, including personal, academic, money matters, disabilities and specific learning difficulties, mental health and wellbeing, and more.


OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
You will provide your students with pastoral support from the point of enrolment and throughout their learning journey.

The Student Support Advisor is responsible for providing learners with pastoral support alongside their learning programme, this includes welfare and attendance.


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • To provide pastural support to learners in help them with welfare issues and concerns
  • Ensure all concerns are monitored timely and accurate records are maintained.
  • To monitor and report on students' attendance, punctuality and academic progress using WS Training databases and information from tutors.
  • To support learners with increasing their attendance to their enrolled course with relevant interventions agreed, monitored and recorded.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • A good understanding of safeguarding
  • Good administrative, ICT and organisational skills
  • Understanding of Equality & Diversity
  • Evidence of relevant and professional development
  • Evidence of supporting students within an educational environment
  • Evidence of managing groups of students
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing with people at all levels
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Able to demonstrate flexibility
  • Good team worker
  • The ability to motivate & support others
  • Remain positive when working under pressure
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures
A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) will be carried out by the business
