Description

We are currently looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Psychologist to join the Hollies, our Adult Learning Disability Assessment and Treatment in patient ward, based at the Cavell Centre in Peterborough.

The Hollies provides specialist assessment and treatment working within a Positive Behavioural Support approach.

The successful applicant will be joining an established team where multi-disciplinary working is valued.

To support and enhance the professional psychological care of patients within the service, across all sectors of care, providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist.


Working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.


To assist in clinically related administration, collection and analysis of clinical data, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.


The role will include appropriate information sharing with service users, their families, GPs and other key stakeholders and partner agencies.

To work within risk assessments undertaken on the ward in line with trust and inter-agency policies and procedures.

To assist in the formulation of cases and preparation of clinical reports under the supervision of supervising Clinical Psychologist.

To assist in the analysis of clinical data producing functional analyses of
behaviours of concern as part of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans.

To assist in the coordination and running of therapeutic groups.


To assist in the development of clinical risk assessments undertaken by the service in line with Trust and inter-agency policies and procedures.

To attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary (MDT) meetings.


To work with other MDT staff to assess inpatients, day patients or recently discharged patients and review their care in preparation for multi-disciplinary reviews.

To assist in the development of a psychologically based framework of
understanding and care to the benefit of all patients of the service, across all settings where care takes place.
