Rockstar North is seeking to hire a talented Scanning Production Artist who has a passion and experience for 3D scanning in a dedicated studio environment and acquiring/managing high quality scan datasets in a game production pipeline.

The focus of this role specifically has a bias to Character Art capture but would also include other static Props.

This is a full-time, permanent position based out of Rockstar's unique game development studio in the heart of Edinburgh.


WHAT WE DO:


  • We design, create and populate the world with the people, creatures and items that bring the story and play to life, for both our storydriven and online game worlds.
  • Our characters are the embodiment of the player's experiences and their interactions when they play how they look, feel and interact with other living things.
  • You'll join a global team setting high standards across all our projects, who have an exacting production focus and an obsession for getting the minutiae right.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Work with the Art Direction & Character Leadership team to create high quality, consistent and superlative characterfocused digital scans.
  • Acquire Scan mesh data using an Artecfocused handheld scanning pipeline
  • Work with proprietary, physical studio setups for ongoing acquisition/lighting of item data
  • Processing of raw scan data into clean final meshes
  • Consistent Zbrush rendering of final scans
  • Manage the tracking and organization of scan data
  • Upload and organization of final scans, maintaining scan library database
  • Collaborate with Dynamic Art Creative & Production teams to source items for scanning
  • Responsible for the organization and tracking of incoming/outgoing items
  • Working closely with Production support to identify and manage priorities
  • Proactively identify item needs

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Expertise and experience in digital scan acquisition through dedicated laserbased scanning systems (Artec, Creaform, Zeiss, Shining 3D, Faro etc) and/or Photogrammetry DSLR rigs.
  • Tertiarylevel Art qualification.
  • Passion and strong awareness for contemporary culture; including Videogames, Film & TV, Social Platforms, Fashion and style.

SKILLS:


  • Excellent visual sensibility within a studio environment for surface capture state/material consideration.
  • Understanding and creation of 'state changes' for static items including garments.
  • Flexible, collaborative, creative approach with strong problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, strong organisational abilities
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and selfmanage time.
  • Understanding of deadlines and ability to shift work focus accordingly.
  • Work effectively within a team setting, under projectdriven goals.

PLUSES:


  • Prior experience with ZBrush
  • Specific working experience in an Artecbased scanning pipeline
  • Industry experience in either Games, Film & TV, VFX
  • Additional Proficiencies in 3D modelling software
  • Understanding of game art pipelines and toolsets
