Full Time - 35 hours

Fixed Term Contract - 8 months


We are looking for a Research Assistant to join the Edinburgh Cancer Research team on a fixed-term contract for 8 months.


The Opportunity:


The post holder will conduct high quality original research using novel mouse pancreatic cancer cell lines, as well as mouse models of pancreatic cancer that recapitulate features of the human disease.

The proposed work will require the use of a broad range of techniques including cell culture, ELISA, western blotting, proteomics, genomics and immunohistochemistry.

The post holder will also contribute to the development and maintenance of risk assessments, SOPs relevant to these studies and will contribute to the general running of the lab.


Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Knowledge on at least three of the following: Mammalian cell culture, cell line manipulation using transfection and/or retro/lenti-viral infection, molecular and cellular analysis techniques including RNA extraction, protein extraction, ELISA, western blotting and immunohistological assessment.
  • You should be a good independent worker, but also be able to work well as a member of a small research team.
  • Flexibility and the willingness to develop novel approaches in the laboratory are important attributes.
