    HSEQ Officer Role

    At Shirley Parsons, we are seeking a dedicated Health & Safety Advisor (HSEQ Officer) to join our team in Hull. As the vital link between vessel crews and the wider HSEQ team, you will be responsible for promoting a strong safety culture, conducting audits, and supporting continuous improvement.

    This is a hands-on, site-focused position ideal for someone with maritime or high-risk industry experience who thrives on solving real-world safety challenges and wants to grow within a supportive, forward-thinking organisation.

    The successful candidate will have:

    • Key Responsibilities
      • Promote a strong safety culture by regularly visiting vessels and engaging with crews to understand operational challenges.
      • Support the development and implementation of the area's HSEQ plan in line with corporate strategy.
      • Conduct internal ISM audits and coordinate external SMC audits.
      • Manage low-level incident investigations and support higher-level ones.
      • Gather and analyse HSEQ data to inform improvements and decision-making.
      • Provide out-of-hours DPA (Designated Person Ashore) cover on a rotational basis.
      • Respond to HSEQ-related queries from vessels and onshore management teams.
    • Requirements
      • Maritime or small vessel experience, ideally with an STCW certificate of competency (deck or engine).
      • Knowledge of risk assessment, hazard identification, and ISM code requirements.
      • Experience conducting audits and training, with the ability to challenge non-compliance constructively.
      • Familiarity with ISO 9001/14001 and basic safety legislation.
