The Practice is looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Dispenser to join our friendly and supportive team at Mendlesham. Our Practice looks after approximately 7,800 patients in a rural setting with 2 sites approximately 4 miles apart.

The Practice has 3 Partners, 3 Salaried GPs and 1 Nurse Practitioner as well as fantastic nursing and admin teams.

Salary is negotiable depending on experience and qualifications and access to the NHS Pension scheme is offered.


JOB SUMMARY
To be responsible for the accurate and efficient dispensing for our patients. Work flexibly and supportively as a key member of the dispensing team and wider practice team.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following are the core responsibilities of the Dispenser.

There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:


  • To be responsible for dispensing all medicines safely and accurately, ensuring there are no discrepancies
  • Maintaining stock levels within the dispensary and replenish shelves with stock rotation, liaising with the team to facilitate reordering
  • Return any unwanted or incorrectly order stock following the correct procedure (within 2 days)
  • Receiving and storing supplies in accordance with current policy, ensuring the cold chain is maintained where applicable
  • Ensuring controlled drugs are dispensed, checked and handed out with accordance with SOPS
  • Safe disposal of returned and / or out of date medicines
  • Processing Dossett boxes
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment at all times
  • Working to and keeping updated with dispensary Standard Operating Procedures
  • Reading and signing annually.
  • Count prescriptions daily

Communication

  • Effectively communicate with all healthcare staff and patients
  • Be actively involved in interteam meetings to share learning and service provision.

Clinical Governance & Quality Issues

  • Maintain confidentiality of information and adhere to confidentiality policies
  • Participate in the reporting and reviewing of significant events (clinical and nonclinical)
  • Ensure full and accurate records maintained
  • Participate in annual appraisal and agree Personal Development Plan that will ensure that the objectives of the individual and team are achieved

Education & Training

  • You will have at least a Diploma Level 2/3 Dispensary or equivalent Pharmacy Services qualification;
  • At least 2 years dispensary and pharmacy experience;
  • Excellent clinical and medication knowledge;
  • Understanding and experience of working as a dispenser in GP practice setting

£11,840.00-£23,660.00 per year
