ACU is a 35 bedded acute admissions ward, accepting medical, surgical, gynaecological and orthopaedic admissions directly from the Emergency Department.


This is your opportunity to become part of a supportive and friendly team who focus on delivering high quality individual care in an exciting, but demanding environment.

To provide an effective admin/clerical service on A cute care unit

  • To undertake these duties as a member of a multidisciplinary team, this includes doctors, nurses, porters and housekeepers etc.
  • To provide an effective frontline service in the day to day running of the hospital.
As a Ward Clerk will have the ability to manage your own caseload, and have a strong track record to be able to demonstrate high quality of admin and reception tasks and communicate effectively to the patient's and visitors to the unit

  • To provide a client centred reception service with respect to greeting patients, visitors and staff.
  • To effectively deal with internal and external telephone enquiries; resolving queries as appropriate or otherwise passing them onto the appropriate individuals.
  • To ensure that all relevant information including Healthcare Record are available for all patients.
  • To record all patient information on the confidential computer system accurately and in 'realtime'.
  • After discharge of patient, to document, track and deliver completed Healthcare Records to the appropriate department
  • To monitor the completion of clinical coding, discharge notification/transfer notification; to ensure these are completed for each patient episode; to liaise with medical staff to achieve this.
