Position:
Sub-Assembly Technician


Reporting To:
Production Team Lead


Responsible For:
None


Purpose


As Sub-Assembly Technician, you will focus on the manufacture of sub-assemblies for finished products, assist with the assembly of finished products when required, the maintenance of your workshop & the equipment used therein.

Working within the Production team, you will ensure that work is carried out to stringent cost and quality standards and department targets are achieved on time.


Duties & Responsibilities:


  • To build subassemblies and assist with finished products when required to the build time set.
  • To liaise with the Quality Engineer once products have been manufactured and are ready for final inspection when required.
  • Assist the Quality Engineer with any inspections which require to be carried out on the test pipeline when required.
  • To be responsible for delivering your set objectives & to report progress on the delivery of these as agreed with your supervisor.
  • To ensure that subassemblies build times are updated in NAV relative to the defined build routing as the equipment is being built.
  • To report to your supervisor if build times set have not been met & to identify the reason/ reasons why.
  • To propose solutions for the improvement of build times.
  • To identify & report incorrect information found in NAV to your supervisor.
  • To identify and report incorrect information found in build notes to your supervisor.
  • To identify and report failures in company processes to your supervisor.
  • To maintain the upkeep of the 5S standards in the workshops & the continual improvement of them.
  • To identify & feedback improvements on training practices & documentation.
  • To participate in lean manufacturing reviews of build products as delegated.
  • To update, review & maintain production documentation as delegated.
  • To raise material requisitions as required.
  • Additional duties as required.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Electronics Assembly experience.
  • Mechanical Assembly experience.
  • Soldering Experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • To work well as part of a team.
  • Ability to read and understand manufacturing drawings & build notes.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel.
