Main Purpose
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join a premier team of Engineers at the 422 Civil Engineering
Squadron, Royal Air Force Croughton, United Kingdom.

The primary purpose of this position is to perform inspections on a variety of facilities and infrastructure involving a range of minor to complex construction, maintenance, and repair operations; and regularly conduct inventory and assesses condition of water, wastewater, gas, medium temperature hot water, and heating ventilation & air conditioning systems for a variety of physical facilities and main distribution infrastructure using computerized Sustainment Management System programs.

Also, the incumbent will assist planners in developing the Utilities and Facilities Activity Management Plans, which includes annual work plans for both corrective and preventive maintenance programs best fit for the portfolio of facilities and infrastructure on record.

Incumbent will coordinate with contractor representatives concerning work plans, scheduling interpretation of plans and specifications, selection of work methods, and acceptability of materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with contract requirements.

Required to attend contract bid opening, pre-construction conferences, project closeouts, and fire and safety conferences to provide needed information and clarify technical portions of specifications and plans.

Additionally complete assurance audits to ensure for all aspects of building, facility repair, modification, maintenance, minor new works, and preventive maintenance is carried out to a high standard.

This post performs inspections on operation, repair, and maintenance of large or complex real property, such as multi-unit family housing areas and large information technology-based facilities; Liaises directly with clients to identify requirements and obtain and act on feedback.

Maintains daily logs and safety reports addressing the progress of construction and the administration of the contract.


Knowledge and Experience Required:


  • Applicants must demonstrate the following:_
  • Knowledge of UK construction inspection practices and procedures involved in the inspection of building materials, workmanship, utilities the installation of systems; and the practical methods and techniques of engineering principles relating to complex construction practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and structural aspects and UK regulations for of construction projects.
  • Knowledge of inspection and safety practices and procedures in the UK construction industry.
  • Knowledge of engineering and architectural plans and specifications to read and interpret construction requirements.
  • Knowledge of construction trades, algebra, geometry, and trigo
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Hours of work: Start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with organization's flexible working policies.
  • Will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
  • May be assigned other duties that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the employee.
  • May be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training. Position may be coded as mission essential.
  • A 6month probationary period will be required.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • May be required to travel overnight to US or other countries in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training.

Applicant must hold HND/HNC/BTEC, City and Guilds, NVQ, or must have equivalent qualifications in an appropriate discipline, together with a minimum of three year's work experience in the trade.
The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. A valid
CAT B driver's license is required for the position. The position requires the knowledge of numerous UK regulations and codes of work.

From time to time, various courses must be attended to keep up to date with new practices, materials, and safety legislation.
