An excellent opportunity has arisen for the position of Deputy Head of Information Governance at Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust.

The postholder will be an integral part of the Information Governance (IG) department, supporting the Head of Information Governance and Data Protection Officer by contributing and participation on all matters relating to IG.

They will support the Head of Information Governance in ensuring the co-ordination and delivery of IG strategies, policies, and compliance.

The applicant must have previous experience of working in a Healthcare Environment.

They will have sound knowledge and experience in all areas of Information Governance, particularly UK GDPR/Data Protection 2018 and other relevant legislation such as Access to Healthcare Records Act 1990, Freedom of Information (FOI) and Environmental Information Regulation (EIR).


The applicant must have experience in completion and review of Data Privacy Impact Assessment (DPIA) and some knowledge of Records Management.


The role will be pertinent to the successful delivery of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit and Framework in the NHS.

Specialist knowledge of Information Governance in a Health and Social Care organisation is essential.


The role is demanding and will require someone with confidence and the ability to think on their feet and liaise at all levels reporting to the Head of Information Governance.

The ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally is essential.


The position is based at Parsons Green but currently on hybrid working (3 days office based) with some travel to CLCH sites as and when required.

Possible return to office on a full time basis.


Central London Community Healthcare (CLCH) is one of the largest community healthcare organisations in London and Hertfordshire, providing our services to diverse communities/boroughs in 11 London Boroughs - Barnet, Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Hounslow, Kensington and Chelsea, Merton, Richmond, Wandsworth, Westminster - and Hertfordshire.


  • Providing expert advice and operational delivery of all areas of IG including information sharing and transfer, legislation, training, FOI/EIR, Subject Access Requests, IG incidents, DPIAs and records management balancing between IG and operational requirements.
  • To be able to translate the complex requirements of legislation into comprehensible operational advice for services.
  • Line Management of the IG Facilitators and IG Officers, ensuring that all work is carried out and documented in accordance with required standards, procedures and that any applicable IG and RM procedures statutory timescales are adhered to.
  • To ensure that the IG Facilitators manage statutory information requests appropriately using the IG Team case management system and provide support as required.
  • To maintain awareness of changes to data protection legislation and Health and Social Care standards, in particular how it may affect the Trust.
  • To review Data Protection Impact Assessments and Data Sharing Agreements and provide recommendations to the Head of Information Governance.
  • Responsible for co-ordination of Data Security and Protection Toolkit evidence co-ordination, working with the Information Governance Facilitators and key staff across the Trust to ensure all areas if the Toolkit meet the required standards.
  • Escalating any issues of non-compliance with legislation to the Head of Information Governance and looking for solutions.
  • To work with the Head of Information Governance, Management, Heads of Service, clinical teams and other stakeholders to develop and implement action plans to improve compliance and maintain assurance.
  • To investigate and support the IG facilitators in any Information Governance incidents reported by Trust staff on the incident reporting system in line with Trust Policies and Procedures, and to escalate these to the Head of Information Governance /Data Protection Officer where necessary.
  • To deputise for the Head of Information Governance and Data Protection Officer as required.
  • To maintain an up to date knowledge of the information governance and data protection issues, both within and without the NHS
  • To maintain an up to date knowledge of all developments in data protection legislation, including the Data Protection Act (2018), UK GDPR, etc specifically in relation to their interpretation in the NHS
  • To continue personal development through regular training, attendance at seminars and conferences, etc
