Independent Travel Trainer:


Tower Hamlets delivers a highly successful Independent Travel Training programme to children and adults with a wide range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Support Needs.


We are looking to recruit
1 x full time (Permanent)
Independent Travel Trainer who can work with children and young adults as part of a highly motivated, successful team who are committed to high quality service delivery.


Key responsibilities


You will be working on a 1:1 basis and be assisting groups of students with SEND to teach them how to travel independently on public transport or by foot.

You will be undertaking assessments of children with SEND for their suitability for Independent Travel Training.


You will be writing reports about the sessions and completing dynamic risk assessments to decide next steps in the training.


Requirements:


You will need to have an understanding of children and adults with a range of special/support needs, their right to lead an independent life and the issues that they face; and experience of communicating and/or working with children and/or adults with SEND You will also need to be committed, motivated, flexible, and cheerful.


You should possess thorough IT skills, (including Word and Excel), experience of using and updating data and be familiar with the principles of safeguarding and data protection.


You will also have experience of working effectively and flexibly as part of a team, the ability to manage and prioritise a caseload and be able to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.


If recruited, you will have access to accredited training for travel trainers course materials to enable you to become a successful Independent Travel Trainer.
