Description

A Grounds Maintenance Operative role doesn't have to be a restrictive remit for repetition, ticking off tasks from one location to the next.

With support from a Senior Grounds Maintenance Operative employed at Bingham for the past six years, you'll be overseeing a one-mile radius inclusive of over 10,000 residents, five play areas, parks, allotments, a cemetery, and sports pitches.


Far from being pigeon-holed within a large team, your work will span grounds maintenance, graves and funerals, park checks, tree maintenance, allotments, flower beds, litter picking, risk assessments, health and safety checks, and Summer and Christmas LightsSwitch-on events.

The core working hours are 7am to 3.30pm, Monday to Thursday, with a 2.30pm finish on a Friday; it's a 39-hour working week.

A driving licence is needed for use of Council-owned utility vehicles, not for your own vehicle. Overtime opportunities exist forseasonal Council events.

Whether it's the onset of high winds or a funeral that needs arranging, plans can change quickly.

You need to be adaptable and composed, working on your initiative whilst also enjoying the chance to liaise with and learn from a highly experienced seniorcolleague.


Do You Offer ?

  • At least three years of experience in a similar role, based outdoors
  • Vocational or inhouse training or qualification related to Grounds Maintenance
  • A valid UK driving licence
  • Basic, proficient handwriting skills for signing off paperwork in writing
