Harper Adams University

Full Time, Permanent

£54,949 - £58,284 per Annum

Working arrangements:
Hybrid

Exclusively supporting Harper Adams University to appoint a Head of Human Resources in their newly created structure. This role reports directly to the COO and manages a Team of five, therefore, previous management experience is essential.


Main Duties:

  • To be the HR lead for the University's overarching strategy, forming strong relationships with key senior managers and ensuring that the people perspective is fully represented in decisions making
  • Manages the HR Team, ensuring regular reviews and PDRs take place with team members, and setting and agreeing clear objectives
  • Develops and implements the HR strategy and ensures that HR is an effective and valueadding function. Leads on and delivers strategic HR projects
  • Maintains own CPD in relation to employment law and employee relations best practice. Supervises high level and complex employee relations cases and manages institutional ris
  • Ensures the University has HR policies and procedures which are uptodate, legally compliant and fit for purpose (including for employment, recruitment and UKVI compliance)
  • Ensures HR systems are aligned to the requirements of the University
  • Meets regularly with Staff Consultation Group and Joint Consultative & Negotiation Committee as a representative of HR and the organisation; to foster good employee relations and consult on people management matters (or sends a suitable nominee)
  • Develops and implements reward policies and procedures to support the needs of the University, recognising delivery, creativity, enterprise and innovation
  • Ensures accurate HR management information to support decision making, strategic implementation, resource allocation and accurate surveys and statutory returns are provided.

Essential Criteria:

  • Postgraduate qualification in HRM or HRD or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience of strategic and operational HR management
  • Experience of working with trade union colleagues in a unionised environment
  • Experience of being an effective leader, motivator and influencer
  • Experience of delivering Continuous Improvement initiatives
