The HDUplus Education, Equipment & Transfer (HEET) Team are recruiting a Critical Care Nurse Educator with an interest in equipment and transfer management.


We are looking for a driven, enthusiastic, and passionate individual with a desire to develop the workforce of the future and provide high quality and safe care.

You should have substantial experience working with a minimum of level 2 critically ill children. You must hold a recognised critical care qualification, have education experience and evidence of leadership.


This role is to work within a team that provides Critical Care Level 1&2 education; preparing and supporting staff working outside of the PICU to care for critically ill children requiring level 1 and 2 critical care.


Within this position you will teach, supervise and support staff working in critical care environments in the care of critically ill infants and children through classroom based teaching, clinical education and bedside supervision.

The role also encompasses equipment management and transfer provision for patients outside of PICU requiring critical care.


Key duties:

Plan, deliver and evaluate nationally accredited PCCS Critical Care Level 1&2 educational programmes.


To ensure that effective mentorship and supervision is in place for staff for the duration of their Critical Care Education programmes to ensure learning outcomes are achieved.

Provide clinical education and support learning opportunities for staff through effective mentorship and preceptorship.

Ensure clinical staff acquire and maintain skills to safely care for critically ill children and their families.

Facilitate Critical Care Level 1&2 internal transfers.

To support the Trust with expertise in Critical Care level 1&2 equipment management, development and procurement.


The post holder will be expected to:
Maintain clinical expertise.

Demonstrate a proactive approach to teaching and learning.

Provide cross cover to both education and equipment & transfer roles within the team.
