My client in
Colchester is looking for an experienced
Band 5 Biochemistry Biomedical Scientist for a locum contract.


Job Role:

  • Safely analyse biological samples including blood, urine, faeces and CSF.
  • Maintain compliance with good laboratory practice, quality assurance procedures in accordance with UKAS ISO 15189 standards.
  • Technically validate, authorise and report results within the agreed turnaround times.
  • To be familiar with and ensure compliance to national, trust and departmental Health and Safety policies e.g. risk & COSHH assessments.
  • Be proficient in using a range of lab automated instruments including maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Support and train peers/junior staffs, ensuring competencies are completed for staff within your remit.

Qualifications and Experience required:
-
HCPC registered as a BMS:

  • Specialist portfolio with satisfactory assessment by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS).
  • Experience of working alone during out of hours service (desirable)
  • Willingness to participate in the out of hours service
  • Evidence of CPD
