Energus are delighted to working in partnership with Cyclife to recruit a Project Management Degree Apprentice to be based at their site in Workington, West Cumbria.

Cyclife
MRF (Metal Recycling Facility) is designed to support the United Kingdom's Low-Level Waste Strategy.

It is a
nuclear licensed site and environmentally permitted facility that is regulated by the ONR (Office for Nuclear Regulation) and the EA (Environment Agency).

The site has an assurance program that covers all aspects of safety, health, environment, quality and security that monitors all aspects of the business operations.

Responsibilities:


Your Project Management Degree Apprenticeship (Level 6)

Your Employment:


For the duration of your degree apprenticeship you will work on behalf of Cyclife, however you will be employed by Energus.


Your Apprenticeship Programme and Qualification:


This apprenticeship is delivered in line with Apprenticeship Standard ST041- Project Manager (Integrated Degree), and will be delivered in conjunction with the University of Cumbria.

At the end of this apprenticeship you will achieve either a BA or BSc Honours degree in Project Management.

Please note, you will be required to achieve an International Project Management Association (IPMA) Level D qualification or equivalent, prior to taking the end point assessment.


This programme is delivered in a full time online day release model incorporating an initial period for orientation before progressing to day release for the delivery of substantive content.

Each module is taught typically over a 6 week period, and where appropriate, additional study weeks are placed between modules for assessment purposes.

A typical study day incorporate 6 hours of scheduled learning.


Modules you will cover include:

Year One - Foundations of Project Management, Project Planning and Control


Year Two - Project Management Methodologies, Ensuring Project Quality


Year Three - Programme and Portfolio Management, Project Leadership, Governance, Change and Risk Management


Year Four - Project Manager End Point Assessment and work based tutorials


Year Five - Overview and additional relevant training


Responsibilities:

Typical duties and responsibilities of a Project Manager include:

  • following a standard process, as defined by a professional project management organisation, such as the APM (Association for Project Management) or the PMI (Project Management Institute)
- initiating the project - check feasibility and work out budgets, teams and resources
- carrying out planning - this will include setting goals and objectives, defining roles and producing schedules and timelines for tasks - in accordance with the needs of your client. Some tools, such as Gantt charts, can be used to create a visual project plan
- managing the project - which includes coordinating the project team to keep them on track and keeping the project on budget
- carrying out monitoring and control activities in order to track the progress of the project
- identifying and managing risks to ensure delivery is on time
- implementing any necessary changes throughout the process
- reporting regularly to manageme
