About the function


The Group BI Service is a team of BI business professionals working together to support and advance Network Rail's business intelligence capabilities.


We do this by providing access to enterprise-wide data and reporting, developing new data products for our customers, and supporting our customers to meet their BI needs.

We work together to provide an agile, approachable, and proactive service to our customers to create innovative BI solutions.

About the role (External):


What does the average day look like?
As a BI Customer Support Specialist, you'll enjoy a multifaceted role that involves a variety of responsibilities, including:

  • Responding to general enquiries about our BI service, addressing feature requests and access needs promptly and efficiently.
  • Monitoring the performance of our selfservice tools, investigating and resolving reported system faults, and collaborating with teams to enhance the user experience.
  • Providing solutions and managing endtoend support for customer enquiries, ensuring a responsive and effective service for BIrelated issues.
  • Assisting with the BI data request, load, and submission process, ensuring timely and accurate communication with customers and identifying data quality issues.
  • Collaborating with the BI Capability and Communications Manager to prioritize our BI Service pipeline and track benefits to showcase the impact of our services.
  • Documenting requirements for visualizations and coordinating user acceptance testing to promote customer adoption.
  • Updating and maintaining report documentation and training materials to improve solution reusability and foster consistent BI skills organizationwide.
  • Managing Group BI Service communication channels, ensuring accessible and userfriendly access to standards, reports, tools, and training.
  • Supporting Visualisation Authors in delivering cuttingedge outputs aligned with our BI Strategy.

What essential skills and experiences are required?

  • 1. Educated to degree level or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Working knowledge of BI toolset usage and visualisations capabilities
  • Proven experience of planning and coordinating activity across formal team structures to solve problems
