Premises Officer - 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday (term time), 07:30 - 11:30 & 14:30 - 18:00 (17:30 on Fridays). £22'369pa. 39 weeks of the year. Permanent.
This role is for a Premises Officer at a school.

The Premises Officer works under the direction of the Assistant Business Manager or Assistant Head Teacher and is responsible for ensuring the satisfactory operation of the school's buildings, grounds, and equipment.

The main purpose of the role is to maintain cleanliness, perform general maintenance, and ensure security to create a safe learning environment for the students.


The key responsibilities of the Premises Officer include:

  • Security: Ensuring the security of the buildings and site, including locking and unlocking the premises, acting as a designated key holder, and liaising with security contractors and the police if necessary.
  • Maintenance: Undertaking minor repairs and maintenance tasks, organizing maintenance duties, carrying out minor improvement work, operating and maintaining heating and lighting systems, and ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the school grounds.
  • Organization and Supervisory/Managerial: Assisting in the safe and effective use of cleaning equipment, providing portaging duties (moving furniture and equipment), supervising cleaning staff, managing stock, coordinating deliveries, and overseeing onsite contractors.
  • Responsibilities: Monitoring and undertaking cleaning duties, maintaining Health and Safety records, conducting regular inspections, complying with policies and procedures, participating in training, advising and supporting others, and ensuring compliance with health and safety policies.


In addition to the specific responsibilities, the Premises Officer is expected to remain up to date with relevant legislation, attend meetings and training courses, establish constructive relationships with stakeholders, promote health and safety, and carry out any other duties as directed by the school's management.
