Unilever's Safety and Environmental Assurance Centre (SEAC) is seeking a x-Category Lead to join the SEAC Personal Care team, focussing on supporting the early-stage category innovation programmes and consumer benefit platforms.
This is an exciting opportunity for anyone wishing to make a significant positive impact supporting the R&D programme for some of Unilever's biggest brands including Dove, Lifebuoy, Lux, Rexona, Axe and Pepsodent.
You will be working alongside some of the industry's most respected safety scientists, learning new risk assessment approaches, growing as a professional and enjoying opportunities to interact across multidisciplinary teams.
JOB PURPOSE
This permanent role is working as part of the SEAC team which supports Unilever's Personal Care business.
You will be working with other members of the SEAC Personal Care team to provide product safety risk assessments in support of the early-stage innovation programmes for Deodorants, Skin Cleansing and Oral Care categories.
To do this you will be working with our digital safety systems, third party organisations and the broad SEAC expertise base to review formulations, record assessments and ensure governance requirements are fully met.

RESPONSIBILITIES
As a SEAC Personal Care cross-Category Lead your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Support the delivery of SEAC's contributions to the Personal Care early-stage category innovation plans, working across Deodorant, Skin Cleansing and Oral Care categories.
- Ensure agile & 'Endtoend' working across multiple interfaces (R&D, Business Units, Quality, RA, Brands, Comms, Legal, etc), embedding a safety by design mindset.
- Assessment of human and environmental safety risks associated with ingredients. Deliver transparent, welldocumented, exposurebased risk assessments to enable robust decisionmaking.
- Work with SEAC's safety and sustainability expertise & capability as required on complex assessments.
- Embed a product safety culture & the use of Unilever digital safety systems for automation of risk assessments. Commission assessments with SEACapproved 3Ps.
- Build an understanding of the wider issues surrounding the use of ingredients and products.
- Be part of a team making an impact internally & externally on the way in which safety risk assessments are conducted and communicated now and in the future.
ALL ABOUT YOU
- A degree (BSc/MSc or equivalent) in Toxicology or a related discipline with >3 years experience in product safety assessment.
- Expert knowledge of toxicology/consumer safety assessment approaches.
- A track record of aligning technical initiatives with overall business group objectives and programmes, working with safety and sustainability expertise on activities of high business value and impact.
- You will have the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels, including technical teams, BG leadership teams and external partners (e.g. suppliers) with the ability to translate technical safety and sustainability concepts for nontechnical stakeholder
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills and the ability to form effective relationships.
- Evidence of a creative, problemsolving, cando mindset.
- Knowledge/experience in product safety regulation.
- Knowledge/experience of environmental safety risk assessment approaches
- Knowledge/experience in toxicology assessments for occupational settings (e.g. worker exposure).
