Description
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated senior Scrub Nurse to join our expanding theatre team. As a Senior Practitioner you will have significant experience at Band 5 in Plastic & Reconstructive surgery and be able to demonstrate proficiency in numerous procedures including Cleft Palate & A.B.G., Free Flap Microsurgery (D.I.E.P. and A.L.T.), Burns and Complex Limb Trauma. This level of skill is essential to the delivery of safe and effective care.


The successful applicant will also be able to demonstrate excellent leadership qualities and delegate care effectively to ensure a well-led service.


Optimisation of care and quality standards is also critical to the role and the post holder will be responsible alongside the wider Plastics team in delivering these goals.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and motivation to a range of theatre practitioners and learners
  • Jointly responsible alongside the Plastics leadership team for the delivery of high standards of care and service to our patients
  • Oversee clinical, equipment and staffing needs for Plastic surgery.
  • Supervise staff in the delivery of care, as well as identify, develop and support staff training needs.
  • Work collaboratively with Plastic consultants/surgeons and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure that Plastics lists have everything needed to achieve optimal outcomes
  • Adhere to the concepts laid out by the 5 Steps to Safer Surgery and the WHO Surgical Safety Checklist.
  • Demonstrate clinical expertise in scrub and circulating practice across a range of Plastic and Reconstructive cases
  • Responsible for the assessment of a patient's perioperative care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of care plans
  • Ensure theatre policies and procedures are research based and adhered to by all staff and regularly monitored and reviewed
  • To promote theatre operational efficiency at all times
  • Participate in the performance management of staff members to include coaching and appraisal preparation
