The primary responsibility of a Solution Architect is to assist the delivery of a viable, management and fit-for-purpose solution that meets the needs of the client and is capable of being effectively managed in service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the creation and implementation of endtoend solution/technical design, ensuring alignment with the strategic technical architecture.
- Responsible for ensuring the solution/design process is adhered to during all phases of project delivery.
- Provide solution and technical SME input to appropriate levels to supplement internal skills (e.g. when new technologies are being investigated).
- Provide an escalation point for design related issues within projects.
- Align standards, frameworks and security with overall business and technology strategy.
- Identify, communicate and manage Information Assurance risks.
- Design security architecture elements to mitigate risks in liaison with Solution Leads.
- Create solutions that balance business requirements with information and cyber security requirements.
- Identify security design gaps in existing and proposed architectures and recommend changes or enhancements.
- Definition of network architecture, demonstrating solutions delivery, principles and emerging technologies.
Essential
- Good knowledge of core
Cisco Networking technologies covering switching, routing,firewall,wireless(ASA,ACI,NX-OS,IOS etc.) - Some exposure to network orchestration and automation with a willingness/aptitude to do more.
- Concrete understanding of fundamental vendor i
ndependent network (IP) concepts and adjacent technologies (
DHCP, DNS etc) - Experience leading projects and working as part of a team including preparing and presenting designs to a high standard.
Desirable
- Familiarity with industry standard frameworks in project management and architecture (Prince2, TOGAF etc)
- Good knowledge of Cisco Unified Communications, and ideally also Asterisk PABX
- Familiarity with concepts involved in SEIM and other network security technologies. (IDS, IPS, 802.1x, web proxy, content inspection)
- Familiarity with Endpoint Management (Device Control, Data Protection, Application delivery and control. Secure remote access)
- Familiarity with thin and zero clients (especially PCoIP devices)
- Familiarity with Windows server, AD, exchange sharepoint, group policy
- Familiarity with public cloud (M365, AWS, Azure Google)
- Linux based OS Administration and automation tools (Ansible, Puppet) applied to Linux and networking equipment.
- Experience of CAPS approved cryptography
- Experience with scripting languages including python and powershell
