Welfare Support and Assessment Team Leader needed in Bracknell £26ph
PAYE - Reference: RQ806616
Hybrid - working one day a week in the office and the rest of the time remotely


  • To provide effective staff management, supervision and support, developing and motivating teams within the service to ensure that customer contacts and service delivery meet agreed performance targets
  • To oversee the timely and accurate assessment of awards of Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support, Discretionary Housing and Council Tax Support payments and other Local Welfare Provision functions, whilst maintaining Data Protection and freedom of information issues at all times.
  • Maintain an advanced knowledge of benefits and council tax legislation, the computer systems and IT skills and office procedures.
  • Assist with the development and training of staff and provide support to Senior Welfare Support and Assessment Officer and wider team concerning complex, technical legislation and procedural issues.
  • To represent the Welfare Service on behalf of the client to a range of our customers relating to technical, legislative and procedural issues.
  • To prepare and present Appeal Submissions at First Tier Tribunals or the Valuation Office as required and to attend legal proceedings on behalf of the client as necessary.
  • Deal with correspondence including formal and informal complaints, Councillor, Ombudsman and MP enquiries and more complex enquiries from the public as required.
  • Take responsibility for and manage special projects as required.
  • To lead and implement changes to procedures, policies or practice within the Welfare Service to ensure the best outcomes for customers and minimise hardship
  • To work with Internal and External Audit to ensure that issues are identified and addressed where necessary
  • To deputise for the Head of Welfare as necessary.

This is a Full time role on a temporary contract basis.
