Established in 1866, the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) is the world's only professional body dedicated to the entire aerospace community.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and self-driven individual to join us as our Digital Communications Officer.


This is an exciting opportunity for someone who loves digital communications with key responsibility for the Society's media content and driving awareness of the Society, it's activities and engagement of our members.


Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor all social media channels daily, identifying areas and key topics that the Society should engage with or comment on.
  • Develop systems and processes to coordinate and maximise the impact of our social media content
  • Generate content through video productions and editing, image and infographic content to be used across digital communications
  • Liaise with relevant volunteers, members and RAeS staff to build an understanding of the sector, identifying audiences and target markets
  • Coordinate and assist with the marketing and communications activities of Society departments, National Aerospace Library and the Branch and Specialist Group networks
  • Measure web traffic, engagement and monitor key marketing metrics relating to campaign activities

Experience/Competencies required

  • Relevant degree or marketing or communications qualification
  • Sound understanding of communications principles, strategies, and tactics across all disciplines
  • An organised, creative and imaginative approach to communications
  • Knowledge of analytics and SEO
  • Ability to prioritise workload, multitask and complete tasks to deadlines and to a specified standard
  • Ability to work well independently and to contribute as part of a team, with a supportive and positive attitude to colleagues
  • Excellent written and verbal English language and communication skillsExcellent attention to detail, even under pressure
  • Ability to absorb, analyse and impart information quickly
  • A background in digital marketing or communications
  • Experience in the implementation of successful marketing and communications campaigns across the full mix to achieve targets.
  • Strong understanding of social media trends and platforms including LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok
  • Experience with analytics
  • Strong copywriting skills
  • Experience of Microsoft Office and CRM databases

Desirable

  • Understanding of market research via telephone, inperson and using print/electronic media
  • Knowledge of the aerospace, defence, aviation and space industries
  • Experience in filming and editing good quality video and audio.
  • Experience of marketing events and products within the aerospace / aviation / defence / space sectors
  • Understanding of Microsoft Dynamics CRMExperience of Umbraco
  • Understanding of Microsoft Dynamics CRM
  • Experience of Umbraco
