Description
This busy, friendly, vascular laboratory has a vacancy for a vascular assistant. The post will involve rotation between vascular laboratories on the Aintree and Royal Liverpool Hospitals. Both departments are part of Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

This is an exciting post, requiring multi-disciplinary team working with multiple staff groups both clinical and non clinical. It will involve caring for a wide range of patients and providing assistance with ultrasound-based procedures and examinations.


The job role will include setting up and assisting in procedures and examinations, post-procedure aftercare, and aiding imaging staff as a chaperone.


The main working hours for this job are:
Monday to Friday

Scope for further weekend, evening and bank holiday working is also expected.


Previous NHS health care experience is an advantage, together with NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in a health care based area is expected.

  • To escort patients within the Department chaperoning where
necessary and be responsible for patient comfort and well being.

  • Escorting of ambulance patients to and from wards and other departments are required.
  • To assist in undressing and redressing of patients.
  • To assist patients to use toilet facilities as appropriate.
  • To assist patients on and off the ultrasound examination tables.
  • To communicate effectively with patients by listening to their concerns
reassuring them by giving information and where appropriate eliciting and
communicating information to other members of the Directorate team as appropriate.

  • To collect, collate and file patient documentations as required.
  • To input and retrieve patient information using the computerised radiology patient information system and the hospital information support system.
