    Job Description:

    We are seeking a high-level Manager to lead and develop our Construction Materials Department based at laboratories in London.

    This position reports directly to the Managing Partner and requires significant expertise in construction materials testing, particularly with concrete.

    • Expertise in construction materials testing with substantial previous experience and extensive knowledge of concrete is essential.
    • Strong report writing skills and a practical nature are crucial, as is the ability to handle multiple live projects simultaneously.
    • Fluent English language skills, both written and verbal, are important for this role.
    • A degree in Materials Science, Engineering, or Construction is preferred; however, relevant experience working in these sectors can be considered equally valuable.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead and manage the six staff members in the department.
    • Advise on and oversee the testing of various construction materials, including concretes, aggregates, renders, mortars, stone, brick, screeds, and flooring materials.
    • Conduct testing both on-site and in the laboratory, taking samples for later testing as necessary.
    • Accurately input data into an Excel spreadsheet.
    • Utilize excellent communication skills to effectively interact with colleagues and stakeholders.
    • Ensure accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks and responsibilities.
    • Demonstrate proficiency in computer applications.

    Requirements:

    • Significant experience in construction materials testing and a deep understanding of concrete principles.
    • Excellent report writing and communication skills.
    • Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple projects.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Computer literacy and proficiency in Excel.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Degree in Materials Science, Engineering, or Construction.
    • Relevant experience working in related sectors, such as scientific research or construction management.
