Would you like to make a huge difference to dog welfare in Dundee and the surrounding area? Are you experienced in handling and rehoming dogs?

We're looking for a Fostering Coordinator to co-ordinate the Dogs Trust Fostering Scheme in the Dundee and surrounding areas of Angus, Perthshire, and Fife.

This will include promoting the scheme, recruiting, and inducting volunteer foster carers in the locality, assessing handovers of dogs in need of relinquishment, ongoing dog assessments and promoting dogs for adoption.

About this job:

As Fostering Coordinator, you'll:

  • Promote the HomefromHome scheme to recruit volunteers in the Dundee and surrounding area.
  • Interview and select suitable volunteers, performing home visits to check on suitability of environment.
  • Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure that volunteering standards are adhered to.
  • Identify from handover calls, dogs suitable for HFH. Carry out dog assessments for placements for foster.

About you:

Working on your own initiative, you will have experience of handling dogs and matching them to potential adopters.

Able to screen and assess dogs for health issues, aggression and behaviour problems you'll be a confident communicator experienced in working with volunteers.

You will also be equipped to deal with sensitive and challenging situations in an appropriate manner, ensuring the best outcome for our dogs and volunteers.

About Dogs Trust:

We love dogs. That's why we do whatever we can to make sure every four-legged friend gets the love they deserve.

We'll never put a healthy dog down, so our work is focused on helping dogs in need, supporting owners every step of the walk, and creating a better world for dogs in the future.

It's what we've been doing since 1891 and how we've grown to become the UK's leading dog charity, helping 12,000 loyal friends find their forever homes every year.

About the team:

As an extension the rehoming centre team, the Home from Home scheme provides care in the homes of volunteers for dogs.

This role will set up and run a satellite Home-from-home scheme in the Dundee and surrounding area to expand the opportunities for dog fostering in the area and enable Dogs Trust to rehome more dogs in the location.
