Description
To work as an integral part of the ward/departmental team, with a flexible approach within the Facilities Department.

Perform cleaning duties in all areas of the Healthcare premises to the required cleanliness standard and comply with infection control legislation.

Communication and working relationships

a) Maintain good working relationships with and communicate with your Line Manager, Team Leader, Supervisors, and Ward/Departmental staff to provide the highest level of Facilities services and to support personal and departmental objectives.

Wear correct and clean uniform whilst on duty

Attend Departmental meetings as appropriate.

To participate in the Trust's appraisal system, review and personal development process on an annual basis.

Undertake training as necessary in line with the development planning process.

To achieve and demonstrate agreed personal and professional development standards within agreed timescales.

To contribute positively to the effectiveness and efficiency of the team in which he/she works.

Collect clean mops at the start of duty and return soiled mops at the end of duty to the laundry room for cleaning.

Remove soiled curtains as required.

Clean all floor surfaces using appropriate methods to remove dust and debris.

Suction cleans all hard floors and mop daily.

Empty, clean and replenish waste bins.

Seal waste bags and carry out appropriate waste disposal procedures.

Clean internal glass and ledges.

Clean all sanitary areas, including edges and underneath sanitary ware.

Maintain cleaning equipment in a clean and serviceable condition and report any malfunctioning of equipment to your supervisor immediately.

Carry out wall washing as instructed, using the appropriate equipment.

Wash down beds and frames after a patient vacates.

Maintain the cleanliness of patient lockers and bed tables.

Maintain and respect the privacy and dignity of patients whilst carrying out cleaning and housekeeping duties.

Adopt a flexible approach, as you may be required to work in any unit of the Trust.

Ensure the correct storage of food items at the ward level.

Collect, wash, and return water jugs daily and replenish them as required.

To ensure that sufficient beverages are available and served to patients. Collecting cups and cleaning all items associated with drinks, laying up trolleys for beverage service. Carry out thorough cleaning of beverage equipment when necessary.

Reperish consumables - paper towels, soap, toilet rolls, etc.
