Job summary:


The roles will be within the Child Maintenance Client Fund Accounting Team, who are responsible for the management of Client Funds.

This includes the implementation and administration of a robust financial control regime to ensure that all funding is correctly accounted for.

The team is also responsible for the production of the Child Maintenance Client Fund Financial Accounts.


The team sits within the Payments, Systems and Financial Control Directorate which has responsibility for the Department's Annual Report and accounts and relationship with National Audit Office.

Hybrid Working


This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home.

This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work.

Job description:


  • Leading a multi skilled team of AO's to deliver the key activities of the team:
  • Ensuring client funds are properly accounted for, and that receipts and payments in the bank account are recorded in systems in a timely manner through the bank reconciliation process.
  • Identifying and correcting financial errors where necessary and ensuring that a full audit trail is maintained to record the movement of funds.
  • Providing accurate and timely reports for managers within DWP.
  • Proactively identify and lead on continuous improvement of finance processes and procedures.
  • Responding to ad hoc queries.
  • Engagement and participation in wider team and Directorate activities.

Person specification:


  • Ability to undertake detailed accurate financial investigations, and an understanding of financial reconciliations, ensuring financial control is maintained.
  • Good investigative skills, with an ability to solve complex problems.
  • Effective communication and influencing skills.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders quickly developing mutual trust and respect to build effective working relationships with others.
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and effectively manage competing priorities.
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 Applications.
