Description
An exciting opportunity is available for the posts of Undergraduate Medical Education Fellow. These three posts will be focussed on developing the undergraduate education experience for medical students at LGT.

Each post is a twelve month role aimed at those who wish to build on their personal teaching experience and develop expertise in educational theory and practice in a supervised environment.

Post holders will work cross site and educate both King's College London and University of Nicosia medical students.

Each post will lead on either KCL students at UHL or KCL students at QEH or Nicosia students at UHL & QEH.

The posts are designed to provide a wide range of educational experience for trainees who wish to make a commitment to education as part of their career.

An enthusiasm for teaching is a prerequisite, but no assumptions will be made about formal knowledge of educational theory or practice.

Hands-on teaching will be central to the post, as will a critical engagement with educational issues around providing undergraduate training in a changing context, both nationally and locally.

There is inbuilt flexibility within the roles such that the post-holders can pursue their own areas of interest. LGT has an expanding and forward-looking simulation faculty as well as faculty members at the forefront of 'gamification' in Medical Education (e.g. escape rooms). There will also be the potential to develop leadership and management skills within education.

A clinical commitment will ensure that the post holder maintains their clinical involvement throughout the year if desirable but this is not mandatory to the role.

This clinical component could include out of hours work, depending on the appointee's clinical specialty and experience, and is negotiable.

Our people are our greatest asset.

When we feel supported and happy at work, this positivity reaches those very people we are here for, the patients.

Engaged employees perform at their best and our Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) initiatives contribute to cultivate a culture of engagement.

We have four staff networks, a corporate EDI Team and a suite of programmes and events which aim to insert the 5 aspirations:

Improving representation at senior levels of staff with disabilities, from black, Asian, and ethnic minorities background, identify as LGBTQ+ and women, through improved recruitment and leadership development

Widening access (anchor institution) and employability

Improving the experience of staff with disability

Improving the EDI literacy and confidence of trust staff through training and development

Making equalities mainstream

The funding for three full time Medical Education Fellows at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust (LGT) has been made available from the undergraduate education tariff.

There will be three post holders - one will be based at the Lewisham site, and two at the Woolwich site although cross site work will be needed.

There will be plenty of flexibility and opportunity for post-holders to work cross-site should their projects warrant it.

The Trust will contribute financial support to the post-holders for an educational qualification, for example, the KCL PG Certificate.
