Job summary:

The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities is committed to make sure buildings are safe, sustainable and affordable.

This role will help implement reform of the built environment, by leading the new Engagement and Project Management Team responsible for working with key stakeholders to understand challenges everyday people face with their homes, managing the flow or legislation the team is responsible for, and addressing correspondence received by Ministers and the Department on the team's policy areas.


The role holder will contribute to the development and delivery of policy and secondary legislation to make a real difference to the quality of housing and building safety in England.


Job description:

This role will be based in the Regulatory Stewardship and Reform directorate of DLUHC's Safer Greener Buildings Group.

You will be responsible for managing 5 team members of different experience levels to run the wider team's engagement, correspondence and project management functions, with high exposure to policy development.


You will be a key part of the team's ability to horizon scan for upcoming challenges and new opportunities for reform.

In addition, you will work with policy colleagues to identify the right processes for successful delivery of legislation and make sure it is implemented effectively so that it works on the ground.


The role will also involve building and managing strong relationships with senior colleagues, other policy leads, lawyers and analysts and a wide range of stakeholders in both policy and delivery contexts to help deliver positive outcomes for people across England.


Person specification:


Essential:


  • Identifying and overcoming obstacles to delivery and making sure policy teams keep to deadlines
  • Managing a diverse team effectively
  • Strong oral and written skills including the ability to communicate detailed information clearly
  • Working effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders

Desirable:


  • Experience working on legislation
  • Experience of project management
