Role Objective
The Country Medical Lead - Immunology / HAE leads a team of three individuals whose priorities are to:

  • Improve the quality and availability of care for patients either hereditary angioedema or a range of conditions amenable to treatment with immunoglobulin therapy. This involves both the generation and comunication of evidence related to the these conditions and the role for Takeda's licensed therapies in the management of appropriate patients.
  • Provide medical support for anticipated license externsions
  • Develop and ensure the delivery of strong medical plans across the Immunology / HAE portfolio. These should include robust plans for KOL engagement, insight gathering and data generation. KOL engagement should make maximum use of omnichannel approaches.
  • Effectively lead a team of high potential individuals. Provide coacing and development opportunities to enable them to succeed in their current roles and progress into more senior roles within the business in due course.
  • As an active member of the Medical Lead Team, contribute to the development of the medical function as a whole.

Key Accountabilities


The Country Medical Lead - Immunology / HAE is responsible for leading their medical team within the Rare Diseases Business Unit.

The team comprises two Medical / Scientific Advisors aligned to the key therapeutic areas of Immunology and HAE.


The performance of all team members will need to be actively managed with appropriate development plans in place to build skills and capabilities and equip team members to develop their careers.


This individual plays a key leadership role within the Rare Diseases Business Unit and is one of the key contributors within the strategic planning process.


They are then accountable for developing and delivering aligned medical plans for both immunology an HAE, along with managing a substantial budget.


  • Expected to act as an ABPI final signatory, to promote a compliant mindset wihin the Business Unit and to develop Medical / Scientific Advisors to become independent ABPI signatories in their own right.
  • Lead / undertake ad hoc projects which contribute to the development of the wider business / medical function.

Key Experience & Knowledge

  • GMC registered physician / GPhC registered pharmacist (preferred) although other individuals with a strong scientific background may be considered.
  • Substantial medical affairs experience, ideally gained in more than one therapy area.
  • Patientcentric mindset.
  • Experience developing / delivering / publishing real world evidence projects (preferred).

Other Key Skills or Competencies Needed

  • Experience working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary set of stakeholders to deliver results
