Scottish Water has an exciting opportunity for a Fleet Maintenance Controller to join our Fleet Department within the Customer Vehicles Team on a 12-month Fixed Term contract.

About the Role

The key purpose of the Fleet Maintenance Controller is to provide fleet maintenance support to our internal stakeholders.


The role holder will work within the Fleet Maintenance Team and will work closely with our outsourced maintenance suppliers to provide administrative support for Scottish Water's fleet of vans, heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) and plant, to meet operational requirements and safety and compliance standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor scheduled maintenance compliance for primarily HGV assets via the FMP(LCV, HGV, plant and auxiliary equipment)
  • Manage VOR Report
  • Ensure compliance documentation is returned and recorded
  • Liaise with operational teams to ensure compliance with safety inspections (PMI ISO week compliance)
  • Performance reporting on maintenance compliance
  • Booking service and defects for assets
  • Review and interact with Scottish Water and supplier portals / fleet management systems e.g. Key2, Convey App
  • Provide excellent customer service to Scottish Water's operational teams in relation to scheduled maintenance events (SME) compliance and defect reporting
  • Liaise and provide support to our suppliers and garage network

Essential Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience of fleet administration relating to vehicle maintenance, ideally including vans, HGVs, plant and ancillary equipment
  • Knowledge and experience of administrating a forward maintenance planner
  • Knowledge and experience using fleet management systems
  • Must be an effective communicator (verbal, written) to manage internal and external stakeholders e.g. suppliers, operational teams, Health and Safety etc.

Desirable Skills:

  • There may be a requirement to travel to meet suppliers and internal stakeholder, therefore a driving licence and transport is desirable
  • Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence
  • Road Haulage or prepared to work towards, OLAT
  • Experience working with vehicles and plant
  • A detailed understanding of the regulatory and legal obligations of commercial vehicle fleet operations, including goods vehicle operator licence requirements
  • Up to date awareness of developments and innovation in the fleet and plant markets
