The Company Overview:


My client is a well-established NFP social housing association who provide affordable housing and services across Warrington to families, older people and people with additional needs.

Their aim is to help make Warrington a great place to live and somewhere the potential of individuals and communities can be realised.


They are actively seeking a new Head of Finance to help develop and deliver on the financial aspects of the Association's business plan.

The successful applicant will proactively lead the Finance team, shape the direction of the department and ensure economic, efficient and effective delivery of customer services.

Contributing to the overall direction and leadership of the Association, this person will also play an active role as a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT)

Your new role as Head of Finance:

Your duties will include:

  • Work in partnership with other SMT members to deliver on objectives and ensure the effective day to day running of the organisation
  • Overall responsibility for the preparation and production of timely and accurate management accounts and forecasts
  • Overall responsibility for the production and publication of annual financial statements.
  • Key point of contact for the external audit process.
  • Working with SMT colleagues to research, prepare and submit periodic budgets and to prepare and deliver reports as required.
  • Ensure the accurate & timely production and submission of returns to a range of stakeholders including lenders, HMRC, pensions, auditors, Regulator of Social Housing etc.
  • Regular monitoring of the Association's Treasury Strategy
  • To manage all aspects of the Association's insurance requirements.
  • Management of reviews, projects and initiatives to support continuous improvement of the Finance function
  • Oversee and maintain all policies and procedures related to financial management
  • Lead responsibility and line management of all Finance colleagues and resources.
  • To actively model the values of the Association and inspire excellence in others
  • Work with the SMT to provide effective, collaborative and motivational leadership, within a culture that coaches and engages people to make the most of their skills and talents
  • Manage and develop effective relationships with key stakeholders from third, public and private sectors

The Experience & Qualifications Required:

  • Educated to degree level and/ or appropriate professional qualification
  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA (or similar).
  • Proven experience of leading, managing and motivating teams to deliver an excellent service and high performance.
  • Experience of a widerange of financial management, accounting methods, procedures, processes, techniques and principles.
  • Excellent analytical, conceptual and problemsolving skills in finance management.
  • Demonstrates excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills with welldeveloped questioning, listening, influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously day to day, resolve complex problems, make decisions and manage a varied workload to achieve challenging performance targets.
  • Proven skills & experience of successful project management & achieving deadlines.
  • Able to demonstrate a sound commercial approach, whilst upholding the core values of the Association and sound governance principles.
