Description
This role is an exciting new addition to the structure within Pathology. This will be a chance to work across Pathology and engage with staff at all levels.
The post holder will support the provision of quality rosters ensuring they are safe, cost effective and efficient. They will ensure rosters are prepared to ensure pay-roll is run on time with accurate information.


The post holder will ensure all users of E-Rostering have access to accurate, fair working patterns, up to date rosters and timely opening of new rosters for requests on the employee on line.

They will be the key contact for all aspects of E-Rostering.

  • With training become the Pathology administrator for the Trust's E-Rostering system
  • Support the Laboratory Managers in the development of quality rosters, monitoring KPI's and taking necessary steps to improve and create quality rosters, including the recording of annual leave / booking, recording of sickness absence and any other amendments required
  • Ensure E-Rostering support mailboxes are monitored throughout the day, prioritising and categorising queries appropriately
  • Undertake routine checks prior to payroll to identify any issues, ensure that the interdependent relationship between E-Rostering system and Electronic Staff Register (ESR) is monitored and any issues are reported to the Roster Manager & Payroll Liaison Manager
  • Assist with the review and resolution of payroll queries in relation to the roster support
  • To ensure Payroll deadlines (weekly / monthly) are met submitting data
  • Liaise with the bank office to ensure accurate information is reflected on the E-Roster
  • Send shifts to bank and agency as requested by the Laboratory Manager, escalating any issues as necessary
  • Handover any relevant up to date information, tasks to maintain an accurate E
  • Rostering service provision when
Pathology is a large busy department which is located across both sites of the trust. Each discipline has a very varied working pattern which will have to be considered by this role. This role will engage with all staffing across pathology.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Educated to GCSE / NVQ level 3 or demonstrable relevant experience
  • Significant administration experience preferably within the NHS
  • Excellent computer literacy, knowledge of process and experience of Microsoft Office packages e.g word and excel
  • Evidence of ability to work with all staff groups and grades
  • Ability to overcome barriers to communication and work with a positive persona promoting the use of E-Rostering
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for dealing with people both within and external to the organisation
  • Excellent organisational skills for prioritisation of own workload with methodical and structured process
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Ability to work flexibly within a team
  • Ability to use own judgement and initiative as appropriate
  • Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection legislation and is able to use discretion where necessary

not on shift

  • Work with Laboratory Manager to complete all variation and leaver forms
  • Ensure that all new staff are correctly set up on the E-Rostering system, also update the E-Rostering system for staff leaving the unit
  • Demonstrate own activities to new or less experienced members of staff
  • Attend all roster creators / updates and attend Trusts roster training via the rostering team
  • Maintain your elearning and mandatory training
  • Ensure the data protection act are followed when dealing with sensitive and personal information
  • Additional administration duties for Pathology management may be required.
