£23,000 to £26,000 a year, depending on experience
Are you detail-oriented, organised, and enthusiastic about maintaining accurate financial records?
Due to sustained business growth and a competitive hiring market, we are excited to have an Accounts Assistant join our team on a permanent basis.
In this role, you'll play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of our finance department by handling various responsibilities related to supplier invoices, subcontractor transactions, payments, and reconciliation.

Main Objectives of the role:
As an Accounts Assistant, you will be responsible for:
Processing Supplier Invoices: Ensure that supplier invoices are thoroughly reviewed, approved and paid in a timely manner, adhering to company policies and procedures.
Subcontractor Transaction Processing: Accurately process data transactions to support subcontractor invoices and labour transactions, maintaining the integrity of financial records.

BACS Payments Automation: Streamline and automate the BACS payments process within the Bank of Scotland, increasing efficiency and reducing manual effort.

Remittance Issuance: Maintain positive relationships with suppliers and contractors by promptly issuing remittance advice and addressing any inquiries.

Monthly Reconciliation: Conduct monthly reconciliations of supplier statements to ensure accuracy and resolve any discrepancies in a timely fashion.

Discrepancy Resolution: Collaborate with the buying and operational teams to investigate and resolve discrepancies between invoices, purchase orders, and goods delivery notes.

Expense and Sales Ledger Support/Cover Provide support and coverage for the expenses and sales ledger functions when required, assisting in maintaining up-to-date and accurate financial records.
Do You have what it takes?
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accuracy in financial transactions.
- Good understanding of accounting principles and processes.
- Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with suppliers, contractors, and internal teams.
- Problemsolving abilities to identify and resolve discrepancies proactively.
- A proactive and selfmotivated attitude, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Desirable qualifications but not essential
- Familiarity with BACS payment processes and Bank of Scotland systems (preferred).
- AAT qualifications, and/ or desire to work towards ACCA or CIMA
