GatewayC is an online education resource, aimed at primary care professionals to support the early diagnosis of cancer.


Due to recent expansion of the programme, we are currently looking to appoint a Project Support Officer to provide proactive programme and project support.


We are looking for someone to provide additional support to the Marketing Manager to deliver cancer-focused projects that raise awareness of the programme and extend its benefits to patients.


To be successful in this role you will need to be organised, have excellent interpersonal skills, have project management skills and work at a fast pace.


Applicants with demonstrable experience of developing educational or creative projects and working collaboratively with a range of internal and external contacts will be welcomed.


This person will be responsible for providing organised, effective, and proactive programme support functions to the GatewayC with focused support for project development and providing support across the team where needed.

Strong project management skills are essential, along with the knowledge of administrative systems and processes.

The Christie is one of Europe's leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year.

We are based in Manchester and serve a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist around 15% patients are referred to us from other parts of the country.

We provide radiotherapy through one of the largest radiotherapy departments in the world; chemotherapy on site and through 14 other hospitals; highly specialist surgery for complex and rare cancer; and a wide range of support and diagnostic services.

We are also an international leader in research, with world first breakthroughs for over 100 years. We run one of the largest early clinical trial units in Europe with over 300 trials every year.

Cancer research in Manchester, most of which is undertaken on the Christie site, has been officially ranked the best in the UK.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Main Tasks

  • Work with GatewayC Marketing Manager to manage cancerfocused projects
  • Contribute to the evaluation of existing projects
  • Work with GatewayC Marketing Manager to review projects, ensuring they are accurate and follow the latest national guidance
  • Where required, collaborate closely with the Digital Learning Team to design learning assets as courses are reviewed and updated
  • Assisting project leads in the development of their work and guiding them as to potential data collection areas, options for development and consideration, and providing guidance in areas where decisions required
  • Assisting the GatewayC leads in the production of risk and project management documentation
  • Supporting the development of policies and standard operating procedures across the project
  • Review project plans to ensure they are updated with milestones, timeframes and outcomes
  • Supporting implementation of tests / pilots in accordance with established project plans
  • Escalating risks as appropriate to the Project Lead as they arise.
  • Producing and maintaining documentation which must be precise, accurate and produced in a timely manner and distributed to all relevant parties
  • Ensuring standard administrative approaches are maintained
  • Asking good questions, analysing data, problem solving and developing solutions in partnership with stakeholders
  • Organisation and communication of the project governance meeting schedule
  • Supporting GatewayC Programme Administrator in recording pertinent minutes and key actions from project meetings
  • Responsibility for ordering stock and stationery and authorised signatory for travel expenses
Communications and Engagement

  • Support the Marketing Manager and Project Directors with a number of communication activities, including:
  • The development of reports (as required) for internal and external stakeholders
  • Responding to external enquiries (including nationwide and international) as a first point of contact for the team.
  • Attendance at promotional events to engagement with potential users, explaining the role of GatewayC and its benefits
Management and Leadership

  • Daytoday management of GatewayC Marketing Assistant, providing support and opportunities for development where appropriate
  • Represent GatewayC and the School of Oncology in a professional and positive manner
  • Contributing to the development of the GatewayC team, developing and sharing knowledge, experience, skills and best practice
  • Following prescribed GatewayC policies and procedures in all relevant aspects of management
  • Work in partnership with other members of the School of Oncology, GM Cancer, CRUK, and HEE to support the overall vision and objectives of the programme
