We are currently recruiting Lab Technicians for our client based in Milton Keynes on a temporary contract. Start ASAP, will be temporary for 12 weeks and then a permanent contract offered.
Pay Rate:
£12 per hour
Working Hours:
Working 5 days out of 6 Monday-Saturday, rotational shift of 8am-4pm, 9am-5pm, 10am-6pm, 12pm-8pm. From April, you will also be required to work some Sundays on a rota'd basis. Standard hours will remain as 5 days per week(37.5 hours)
The Role:
- Managing of samples from receipt through to sample processing and storage in line with laboratory processes.
- Cleaning the laboratory.
- Report equipment/process issues in accordance with relevant SOPs.
- Working in accordance to laboratory SOPs and quality standards.
- Any other reasonable task.
Essential Criteria:
- Good standard of general education GCSE maths or English (or equivalent).
- Experience of working in a strict process environment (manufacturing/assembly).
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work and think methodically.
- Proactive attitude.
- Ability to manage own workload and prioritise tasks.
- Experience of working in a team to achieve an end goal.
- Experience of working shift patterns.
- Experience of training/mentoring others.
- Experience of working to quality management standards.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience of sample processing
- Experience of operating liquid handling systems
- Awareness of the Human Tissue Act (HTA).
- Experience of working in an ISO9001 (or equivalent) environment
- Experience performing biological assays in a scientific research or diagnostic laboratory
- Experience of working within a high throughput sample processing environment
- Experience of working in a laboratory flexibly across multiple projects/assays
- Sound knowledge of molecular biology
- Experience gained in a qPCR environment
- Nucleic acid extraction experience
Highly Desirable Criteria:
- Background in virology and related testing
- Extensive qPCR/ PCR experience
- Extensive liquid handling experience
- BSc in a relevant scientific area
