An opportunity has arisen for anexperienced administratorto join our dynamic multi-disciplinary team based in Colchester working within the clinic.

Come and work for NELFT's SET CAMHS (Southend, Essex & Thurrock Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service), and be part of one of the UK's most innovative healthcare Trusts.


NELFT's SET CAMHS is for anybody aged between 0-18, living in the Southend, Essex and Thurrock areas and is free at the point of entry.

The service is also for young people with special educational needs (SEN) up to the age of 25. The CAMHS Tier II and Tier III services no longer exist, replaced with an integrated SET CAMHS.


Any young person experiencing emotional wellbeing or mental health problems, (or any parent, guardian, professional or teacher of a child who is experiencing emotional wellbeing and mental health difficulties), may access our service.


The main responsibilities of the post:

  • Using Systmone data base, to integrate patient information and update accordingly
  • Liaising with members of staff including, clinicians and senior managers
  • Direct telephone and face to face contact with service users and their carers/parents
Essential Criteria

  • Highly organised
  • Great telephone manner and customer service skills
  • Excellent written skills with a high standard of grammatical letter writing
  • Previous administrative experience
  • Experience within an NHS setting desirable but not essential
  • Able to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Good grasp of Microsoft Office and other IT programmes
  • Interested in developing further IT and administration skills
  • Positively contribute and be reflexive to new ideas

Probationary Period

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust.

All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.

As part of the process, new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.

The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

About SET CAMHS
Since 1 November 2015, we have been gradually rolling out these services:

  • Preventative programs in schools, children's centres and other local places
  • Advice, training and support for other health and social services
  • A range of services including parenting and family groups, short psychological treatments and mindfulness in schools
  • More indepth psychological treatments, which are evidence based and delivered by highly skilled practitioners in specialist teams
  • Help and support for all young people at times of crisis
  • Online and digital services such as Big White Wall
Structure of NELFT's SET CAMHS

There is a Children's Single Point of Access (CSPA), seven Locality Teams three Crisis Teams and a specialist Eating Disorders Team.

These are located across Southend, Essex and Thurrock.
