What you'll be doing

  • Empty waste receptacles and collect waste in accordance with the methods and arrangements prevailing and laid down by the Councils. This includes but is not limited to general refuse, recyclable and green waste. The current method of collection involves the deposition of waste into refuse/recycling collection vehicles (RCV).
  • Act and work as part of a team to deliver the services that the Councils require to a high standard.
  • Act and work to meet the prescribed standards and requirements of health and safety. This will include assisting vehicle drivers in the safe manoeuvring of vehicles where appropriate.
  • Act and work in a professional, competent and positive way with customers commensurate with the role.
  • When not allocated to a collection crew, to carry out other duties within the operations service.
  • Work as part of a team to ensure standards, targets and performance indicators for the services are met with a focus on customer needs and continuous service improvement.

You must have

Essential Criteria

Ability to undertake repetitive manual lifting and moving tasks i.e. the emptying of waste receptacles

Ability to work flexibly as part of a team to deliver the service

Ability to follow procedures and accept direction

Demonstrates a working knowledge/ability to meet health and safety and other operational requirements

Have an ability to complete tasks in a defined way as directed

Ability to interact with customers in a positive and professional manner
