Scientific Internships

Oxford, UK

Oxford Nanopore Technologies is headquartered at the Oxford Science Park outside Oxford, UK, with satellite offices and commercial presence in many global locations across the US, APAC and Europe.

Oxford Nanopore's sequencing platform is the only technology that offers real-time analysis (for rapid insights), in fully scalable formats from pocket to population scale, that can analyse native DNA or RNA and sequence any length of fragment to achieve short to ultra-long read lengths.

Our goal is to enable the analysis of any living thing, by anyone, anywhere. We offer real-time Nanopore-based DNA/RNA sequencing technology: accessible, easy to use and fully scalable for any requirement.

Oxford Nanopore has capacity for internships at our site in Littlemore on the edge of Oxford.

Opportunities exist in Research and Development for enthusiastic students on varying timescales from 3 to 12 months in all areas from protein expression and purification through DNA and protein sequencing to synthetic chemistry, physical chemistry, materials and engineering.

If interested, please send your CV and covering letter to Oxford Nanopore introducing yourself and specifying what kind of opportunity you would like to explore with the world-leading DNA sequencing company, allowing sequencing of anything, by anyone, anywhere.

We are seeking forward-thinking, creative and highly motivated undergrad/postgraduate students for internships/year in industry placements in the Chemistry group, in the Platform group, and the Biologics group

Platform placements

Based in the Chip Research and Development group, you will work a multi-disciplinary team working on the current / next generation of sequencing flowcells.

All roles are hands on, laboratory based and will enrich your skills and experience in one or more core aspects of the chip technology including MEMs / microfabrication, chemistry of surfaces and interfaces, microfluidics, electronics, electrochemistry, and data analytics, with full training provided.

Biologics placements

As part of a group that researches advances in the protein reader and protein pore within the flow cell the role can be lab-based or in data analysis, will be fast paced and will include anything from protein purification, buffer compositions and sample manipulation to potentially decoding the newest signal generated by the sequencing chemistry.

If you are interested in gaining work experience in a highly skilled team of friendly scientists while contributing to the development of platforms for DNA/RNA sequencing development, we would love to hear from you
