Your new role:

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Head of Finance Shared Services to join our group functions.


Reporting directly to the Business Services Director (BSD) the Head of Finance Shared Services will be the single point of accountability for the management and delivery of the finance activities and related transaction services provided by Amey Business Services (ABS).

You will be an integrated and proactive member of the ABS leadership team supporting the Director in the development and implementation of a high-performance culture.

You will also partner with key stakeholders with a prime focus on delivering in scope finance transactional services.


The Head of Finance Shared Services, along with the Amey Business Services Leadership Team will play an important part in implementing a fit for purpose target operating model for the Transactional Services function that aligns to and enables the overall group strategy.


The standard hours of work are:37.5 hours per week

You will be responsible for:


  • Championing the vision and voice of the ABS target operating model.
  • Proactively leading the daytoday activities across the TS functions and instilling an ethos of service delivery, control, risk management and governance whilst driving a culture of continuous improvement
  • Leading the TS team via structured performance reviews aligned with Amey performance standards
  • Ensuring compliance with recognised accounting standards, policy, and procedures, whilst adhering to end period end reporting schedules
  • Ensuring controls are in place and are working effectively and efficiently including required Audit deliverables
  • Attending and proactively participating in, where required, customer performance reviews
  • Setting objectives and defining development plans for direct report(s) in line with Group objectives
  • Championing a culture of continuous improvement across ABS
  • Championing industry best practices through connectivity with relevant finance services forums / networks and appropriate memberships with relevant external bodies
  • Delivering against Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and set performance targets, proactively implements initiatives which improve overall ABS performance as measured by Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Working with key stakeholders and proactively measure performance
  • Accountable for the commercial review relating to work winning activities where there is an ABS involvement

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Degree level education
  • Recognised professional finance qualification with at least 5 years post qualification experience.
  • Transformation, migration and change management experience would be desirable.
  • An experienced finance services leader with demonstrable experience in driving and delivering a portfolio of finance services.
  • Previous experience of having worked in the BSC sector at a senior level.
  • Experience of operating in large scale complex organisations with diverse stakeholder communities
  • Up to date with relevant and recognised accounting standards
  • Experienced of embedding a continuous improvement, change culture.


We also expect that this role would attract interest if you are / were a current Head of Finance, Shared Services, FA&R / RtR Leads - operating large teams.
