Job Purpose
To undertake a variety of financial administration tasks for Great Oaks School to support the Trust's Finance team.


Responsible To
Chief Finance Officer


The post holder will at all times carry out their duties in accordance with the policies of the Solent Special Education Trust.


Hours of Work and Salary
Hours are flexible but must be 22 hours per week. This can be four or five short days or three full days. Term time only.

FTE £24,684 per annum, pro-rata £12,588 per annum (£12.79 per hour).


Location


This role will be based at Bugle House, Southampton city centre but working from other school sites may be required.


Duties and Responsibilities

Finance:

To assist the Chief Finance Officer in the effective day-to-day running of finance administration for the School in accordance with the Trust Finance Manual, policies and procedures as detailed below:

  • To prepare financial reports for the Chief Finance Officer as required including finance records, statistics and information.
  • To process invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
  • To record accurately all monies received by the School for banking.
  • To record accurately payments for trips and events for learners.
  • To record accurately authorised petty cash transactions.
  • To process orders and payments on the finance system (Xero).
  • Writing letters and creating documents and collating data for monthly reports as required.
  • To undertake Credit Control tasks to aid in the collection of monies owed to the School.
  • To assist the Purchase Order process as required.


To assist the Chief Finance Officer with any other general finance or administration tasks, as directed by the Chief finance Officer, Business Leader - HR and Administration or Head teacher.


Supporting the School
At an appropriate level, according to the job role, grade and training received, all employees in the school are expected to:

  • Support the aims, values, mission and ethos of the school and participate in a team approach to all aspects of School life.
  • Attend and contribute to staff meetings and INSET days as required, and identify areas of personal practice and experience to develop.
  • Take appropriate responsibility for safeguarding and children's welfare and be aware of confidential issues linked to home/child/teacher/school and keep confidences appropriately.
  • Be aware of health and safety issues and act in accordance with the School's Health and Safety Policy.
  • Take part in the School's appraisal system.
